How to apply on-line: IBRO APRC Exchange Programme

The IBRO-APRC Exchange Fellowship aims to allow high-quality junior scientists at the level of postdoctoral fellows or junior faculty (under the age of 45) from diverse geographic and scientific areas wishing to broaden the scope of their training in neuroscience by working 4–6 months abroad in established laboratories.  Senior PhD students with good publication record and strong justification for the exchange program will also be considered.

Both the applicant and the host laboratory have to be within the Asia-Pacific Region. The fellowship must take place between November 2008 and December 2009.

Selection criteria include academic credentials of the applicant and the host, as well as the quality of the research proposal with structured research plan. Priority will be given to applicants from less developed and less well funded countries.

Strong justification must be made by the applicant that he/she will return to the home country after the exchange, bringing with them new knowledge and skills to advance neuroscience in their home countries.   A firm commitment from his/her parent institution to this effect will be viewed favorably by the selection committee. Applicants should have obtained consent from the host laboratory when they submit th e research proposal and research plan.

Funding of up to US$8,500 is available to cover each 4- to 6-month fellowship. The sum is used as a matching fund to defray cost of travel to and from the host laboratory and to subsidize living expenses.

Deadline: September 21, 2008

A BRIEF NOTE ON ENTERING DATA IN THE FORMS

You can prepare your text in MS Word and copy-and-paste it in the form.  Since MS Word creates (hidden) formatting codes that cannot be displayed in the on-line forms, these hidden codes have to be removed from MS Word file. There are two ways to do it:

  1. Copy your text into Notepad and from Notepad, paste the text into the form. To copy and paste, mark the original text and use control-C to copy. Place the cursor in the form and use control-V to paste the text.

  2. Or use the filter (icon eraser + W) in the Editor to clean the text of MS Word formatting. You may need to remove empty lines.

New data are first "Inserted" in the form. For all subsequent entries, use "Update". In areas where multiple entries are allowed, there will be a button "Add New". Once finished with entries, use "Continue". If there are no entries, use "Cancel".
